IMG_1337Book 2 in the Mystery Lane series is at 104 pages now.  So… unless it’s longer than 715 Mystery Lane, then 601 Suspense Street is 1/3 written.  That’s a good feeling.

This is a photo of the irl Fox, and here’s a bit of trivia for you.  If you’ve read 715 Mystery Lane (and warning, ***spoiler alert*** if you haven’t), you’ll recall Fox ended up at the vet.  That exact situation happened to the irl Fox, only I was alone when it did.  Brad was an airplane flight away at a training class when Fox collapsed.  It was absolutely terrifying.  I got him in the car and down the road to the vet, and rushed in exactly like Will did.  Then the vet and vet techs rushed in, and carried him away.

Fox spent the day at the vet’s while every imaginable test was run.  They could find nothing medically wrong with him.  But… Fox had a habit of snapping flies out of the air.  He hated flies, and he was fast.  They didn’t stand a chance.  But the bee he snapped out of the air stung on the way down, and that caused his throat to swell shut.  I didn’t witness this occur or I would have expected the reaction he had.  I’ve always been so thankful I called him in the house shortly after it happened though, because if I didn’t see him collapse and get him to the vet he wouldn’t have lived the long life with us that he did.  He wouldn’t have prevented the house next door from being robbed either.  He wouldn’t have been the best, most loving and protective friend to our daughter when we brought her home from the hospital.  He actually got after me for patting her on the back after she had a bottle!  I had to explain, I am not beating on the baby.  I know you don’t do this to puppies but this is how you get rid of gas bubbles and keep babies from crying after a meal.  He reluctantly accepted my explanation and quit shoving his nose under my arm to prevent me from patting her.  But he sure hovered like a worried mother hen and gave disapproving looks, anyway.  Anyone that came over and held her, he watched like a hawk, too.  He didn’t need to speak, the looks he gave and his body language said as plain as day, “you are not taking this baby out of the house and you’d be wise to put her down NOW.” He was amazing, and we miss him.

I’m going to get back to 601 now, because Fox lives on in the Mystery Lane series, and that is a very good feeling.

Happy reading everyone, and now I’m getting back to writing…
