I didn’t count how many times I’ve said that, but this, is the final cover for Mystery Lane book 3. I can now honestly say with 100% certainty that the book is done! The kindle version will be released September 4th, and the paperback before then. I’m not sure of the date, but will post it when I know for certain.

Uncertainly Yours is now on page 309, which is a miracle, considering how little time I’ve had to write. Em is really struggling with the symptoms of dysautonomia, and I admit we’re desperate for the 31st to get here. That’s the day she’ll undergo the test needed for her cardiologist and neurologist to determine treatment to alleviate some of the symptoms. The latest, is a resting heart rate of between 120-160. Imagine having your heart pound as if you’re running, when all you’re doing is lying on the couch. Imagine trying to fall asleep with it doing that! Her blood pressure is all over the place too. That, an extreme headache, shortness of breath, chest pains, and her declarations that she felt like she was dying, resulted in two ER visits last week. Lots of tests later, the consensus  was that the dysautonomia was indeed the culprit, and any meds prescribed would invalidate the test on the 31st, so… hang in there, until then. It’s all we can do, as moving up the test isn’t possible.

We started home school last week too, but considering every day had at least one appointment, and some two or even three, we managed one day of school. This week is better, as Em was scheduled to have surgery to correct a severely deviated septum, so we kept it free of appointments. But, with her heart doing what it is, her cardiologist said no way. We were thankful she was able to see him, as she’s waited months for this appointment, and had been once again bumped, this time to October 24th. I admit I was feeling extremely hostile toward whoever was responsible for scheduling! Of course that person was in hiding, and unable to be reached. But, thanks to divine intervention, there was a cancellation and Em got in to see him last week. So no surgery, and absolutely no exercise, with her heart already racing. She’s also supposed to drink a lot, but unfortunately is no more motivated than the proverbial horse. It feels like most of my time is spent taking her to appointments, and pushing water.

But, in spite of it, Uncertainly Yours is on page 309. The mystery is somewhat involved, and the entire missing persons unit of the Bannerman Foundation is investigating it. That’s a lot to keep track of, so I’ve had to reread it several times, plus I have a stack of Post-its and notes on the iPad. Since this book takes place nine months from when we last saw Miles and Anika in Depart the Darkness, and since a HOB book that’s half written begins a couple of weeks after Uncertainly ends, then suffice to say this one is requiring very careful writing. It’s like cutting out a puzzle piece to fit in the midst of several others. Any flaw will be obvious, and detract from the big picture. It’s a challenge, and when it comes to writing I enjoy that.

School this week has gone well. We got done early today, in spite of covering all our subjects, which is why I have a minute to write! But now, I need to get back to writing Uncertainly Yours. In a couple more pages, Miles and Anika will be contacting Neil and Penny, this book’s main characters, to tell them what they’ve uncovered. I can’t wait to hear it, myself!

So happy reading, and now I’m going to get back to writing.
