Brad horrified me a couple of days ago, when I mentioned a pivotal point in the mystery Jack and Charlotte are about to be assigned. He had the nerve to reply that it wasn’t possible! The reason I swiftly became irate, is because over a year ago he told me it was! I strenuously suggested it would behoove him to look it up and figure out why he told me that in the first place, since he was now changing his mind. So he did, and it turned out he was right the first time. Thank goodness! For the plot, and him! Had he been initially incorrect, the plot would have to be scrapped. It’s an interesting plot in my opinion, and that would’ve been worse than disappointing. It would leave Jack and Charlotte without an investigation. Despite writing fiction, some of it supernatural, I research a ton so that the laws of physics aren’t tampered with. Except for the HOB series, of course. So if any part of the plot wasn’t possible, I would not write it anyway, claiming artistic license. I don’t like it when people do that. Especially about diabetes, not that this book has anything to do with that. But others have done so, and they get it wrong, because they believe what they’ve always heard spouted as fact, instead of making the effort to research and validate or debunk those claims.

Brad was properly repentant, and sent a bunch of articles about events very similar to the one involved in Jack and Charlotte’s case. That was more than I hoped for, so all is well. I’ll have to spend another couple of days reading all of it, but it’s time well spent. The story will be better for it. Brad knows an awful lot about crime, forensics, law enforcement, etc, but he also forgets a lot. In the future, when he confirms that such-and-such a thing is possible, I’ll also list the sources in my notes for easy reference later, and spare myself another stress test.

I’m off to either comb through more research, or write, I haven’t decide which to do first. So happy reading, and now I’ll get back to one or the other!
