It’s June 1st, and Anika’s 21st birthday. Because, you see, when The House of Bannerman series took off, it did so with a vengeance. “Miles” began in September 2013. “Miles” ended May 19, 2014. “House of Shadows” began the day after, and ended last month–May 19 2015. “Darkness Falls” may be on the shelves now, but it doesn’t take place until August 2015, and “The Lodge at Whispering Pines” begins January 1st, 2016! The books are spanning less time, so perhaps time will catch up with them at some point.
The characters of “Isle” just completed a rather harrowing scene. This book is as heavy on suspense as it is humor. Here is a sneak preview of how the scene ends…
Lizbeth nodded, and she and Max hurried on. Only once they were back at their own end of the island would they feel safe.
Yet even then, the realization struck them afresh that any feeling of safety they had was but an illusion. They did not voice it, but both knew in the glance they gave one another that on this point neither was deceived.
