I’m copying this over from my writer page on Facebook, so if it looks familiar, that’s why.

~A meeting was held in my writing room today, to discuss the rapidly growing interloper and what to do about him. Pandy officiated, extolling the virtues of the good old days of peace, quiet, and pee-free floors. Indy was nominated to take the young whippersnapper in hand, which he politely declined, on the basis of old age and seniority. Star declared she could not be expected to think outside her box, which the other two were not inclined to drag up the stairs for her. She spent the second portion of the meeting the same as she did the first… staring into space. By default, Pandy accepted the responsibility of dealing with the little fellow, whatever that means. I’m thinking it’s a good thing Arctic has a crate to protect him when Em and I aren’t around, and that it would take dynamite for her to get into it. Pandy has no credit card, and I’m not giving her mine. ~

That was about a week ago, and my, how things have changed! And I don’t just mean Arctic’s ears which are standing taller by the day, or the rest of him, which has grown considerably. No, what I mean, is that Indy decided last Monday to take over the little guy’s training. I’m absolutely thrilled by this turn of events. Having such a skilled, same species teacher is awesome! Indy is highly trained. He was my Diabetic Alert Dog service dog for several years, in fact. He’s now retired from active duty, and showed no interest in taking on another career. But, suddenly that changed. He jumped in with all four paws, and is doing the job Arctic’s mother would have, if he was with her longer. From what we understand, he was the runt, and not living in great conditions. Despite how rapidly he’s growing, he’s still half the weight and size he should be at this age. So, the woman Em got him from, got permission to take him in at about six weeks. That’s not ideal, but neither was the situation he was in previously.

He’s in a great place now, if I do say so myself. So are the rest of us, because we’ve got the best puppy sitter ever! I’m finding it a little easier to write these days, partly because of Indy stepping up, and partly because twice a week I go in for allergy shots. That means twice a week for twenty minutes at a time, I have the luxury (and I’m not being sarcastic) of sitting still, as alone as I’m likely to ever get for the foreseeable future, with no demands. So, that time is spent writing. It’s nice. Uncertainly Yours is on page 380, and while there’s a lot left to happen and the action is amping up, the story is nearing completion. I won’t promise a definite release date, but I guarantee it will get done just as quickly as possible. Em’s having a four-plus hour medical procedure next week, so unless I’m expected to fill out yet another useless mountain of paperwork that no one will look at anyway, then I’ll spend it writing.

In the meantime, happy reading!
