601 Suspense Street is moving steadily along at 131 pages now. House of Bannerman book 7 is at 90. I have yet to write 5 and 6, but… I’ll get to that. The plot for 7 is so solid I don’t have to stop and think about it, I just write. So I go back and forth between 601 and HOB 7. That way I’m always writing, instead of wasting time sitting and thinking. I write 601, I get stuck, I move to HOB 7. By the time I get back to 601, my subconscious mind has had time to work over my dilemma, and I’ve got the answer. It works for me.
I’m enjoying HOB 7 so much though, I have to take intentional breaks and go back to 601. I don’t get stuck on HOB 7. If only every book was so effortless! HOB 4, The Lodge at Whispering Pines, set for release on August 14th, was the same way. It was the easiest thing in the world to write, and that’s reflected in how easy and fun it is to read. I’m reading it over in my abundant spare time. I’m being sarcastic about that, which is appropriate since I’m wearing my “I’m sarcastic, what’s your superpower?” t-shirt right now. I don’t have an “I digress” t-shirt, although that would be appropriate too, because that’s also what I’m doing. I’m reading over Lodge in my not-spare time to check one last time for typos and other errors. I’m enjoying the writing I’m doing, and the reading I’m doing, and if only there were more hours in a day! Or sleep could be done away with entirely. Just not enough lattes in the world for that though… there just aren’t.
Happy reading, and now I’m getting back to 601!
