me and Indy 1Happy Independence Day!  It was eight years ago on July 3rd that we brought Independence aka Indy, home with us.  It was a long drive to San Bernardino, California and back, but well worth it.

Indy was my faithful Diabetic Alert Dog service dog for several years, although retired now, and the inspiration for Samson in “Camp Emmaus.”  While Indy lives a life of ease these days, he still warns me when I ignore alerts from the CGM (continuous glucose monitor).  That’s one thing an electronic device can never do.  It cannot care, and it cannot know whether or not I silenced an alarm without even registering it.

601 Suspense Street is coming along, but traveling last week slowed me down significantly.  I’m very glad to be home again, although I did love seeing family and especially my bff Melissa (yes, my best friend and I share the same name–how much more best-friendish can you get than that?).  Melissa (bff, not me) is the inspiration for the character Jenny, Anika’s best friend, in the House of Bannerman series.  She is absolutely beautiful in every possible way, and the best friend ever.

It’s time for me to get back to writing now.  Will, Gemma, and Fox have been standing in front of 601 Suspense Street all day, and are ready to do something else!  So I’m going to get back to their story.  I’m as anxious to know what happens as they are.

Happy reading!
