Ordinarily one would say “three time’s the charm,” but in this case it’s three books.  “Untitled,” and no that’s not its name it just doesn’t have one yet, is at 52 pages.  “Depart the Darkness,” HOB book 5, is at 28.  HOB book 7 or 8 is 128 pages.

It seems like it would be difficult to jump back and forth from one set of characters and plot to another, but actually, it isn’t.  When I’ve tried writing one book at a time, like “601 Suspense Street,” it takes me longer and I get to the point I can’t re-read it and get a feel for pacing or anything else.  That’s frustrating.  I end up staring at the screen of the laptop as my mind wanders all over the place.  But, when I have several books going then when I need a mental pause from one, I jump into another, and so on.  My mind rarely has a chance to wander, and the digital pile of pages grows.  As I focus my attention on one book, my subconscious mind gets a crack at the others, and solutions are reached and plot additions are constructed without even having to think about it.  Not consciously anyway.

I’ve got so many ideas for each of my three books right now, I better get back to it before my mind explodes.

Happy reading, and in self-defense, I’m going to get back to writing!
